Rezip

Rezip is a modular zipper-repair workstation developed by PCH Innovations in collaboration with their partner STAM for the EU-co-funded project CISUTAC for textile circularity. Rezip combines smart automation, hand-held tools and an intuitive interface to guide streamlined zipper repairs and apparels and sporting goods in under 10 minutes.

A huge aspect of making our station accessible was making the new tools and processes easy to learn. To this end, we developed a digital UI that guides users from the zipper recognition and spare part finding, through to the individual repairs while collecting important product data and documentation for optimising the process further.

Built to accommodate a user base of varying skill levels, the interface provides both a step-by-step guide for the beginner or community user and a freer system for the veteran tailor.

The app is available in 6 different languages and has two main purposes:

1. It collects data regarding the zipper repair process, including product type, flaws, performed repairs, repair times, and outcome that can be used to improve repair and product processes.

2. It assists the operator in performing the repairs through step-by-step tutorials via written steps, videos and tool indications. Equally, it assists in identifying the zipper type and size through the automatic zipper identification scan software.

Outside the repair process, users can also refer to the Repair Library and a Stock Inventory.
